happy to split the patches up.
For 1 would you rather the whole status be displayed at the bottom, or for a
separate *status* buffer open up. I really like the *completions* buffer in
emacs because it lets me see the group of files in status in a nice two
column tabular format. It's something that I miss when using yi.
