Hi! Take a look at patch called "eol_normal_mode" in "Yawn..." thread (http://groups.google.com/group/yi-devel/attach/8910e117d0b0755a/ eol_normal_mode.patch?part=3&view=1). It does exactly what Александър has described as option 2 (I was to tired and to lazy to describe it more throughly).
I give my vote to option 2.
