Public bug reported: MatLab 2016a desktop won't start using Horizon's noVNC console. It hangs at the splash screen.
Using RDP, VNC, X Forwarding, and noVNC (using novnc_server and tigervnc on the VM), it opens properly. To get it to open properly in Horizon's noVNC console, we have to add the "nomodeset" flag in grub for the VM. This has the side-effect of making the glxgears background transparent -- I don't know what other side-effects it will have with other programs.
