@Jérôme The link is that Software Carpentry is very much related to software development in research and the related issues (quality control, citation format, academic recognition, and many others beyhond the strictly technical aspects). It is less obvious with their new homepage.
It is an entry point for many interesting discussions (random examples below). It has great content for teaching to.
