I don't agree with this. In my opinion, Xubuntu 12.04 should stay with the 3.2.x-kernel.
Because it's currently the only kernel (plus the X.org version that goes with it) that still supports the restricted nvidia-96 driver for old Nvidia video cards. Same goes for third-party SiS 671 drivers.
