I like the new logo, however, it does seem a bit empty, but that might change if you really use it as a login screen and have to enter your name. Good job :D

Thanks for the feedback. With all probability, the logo will further
evolve throughout  the months.  The function of the shininess is to
make it stand out from the background. The idea is to make it similar
to the logout icons, but not overdoing it. Because xubuntu, at least
how I conceive it, should set itself apart from the rest by its
simplicity and elegance, which could be its signature too. By the way,
this is very hard to do.
