If "slowness" technically means that Caps unlocks only when the CapsLock key is released (after the second press), rather than unlocking on the second press of the CapsLock key, please see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27903 and in particular, comment #27, which describes a solution.
