On my Debian testing system, I recently started to have problems with my dual-screen setup: suddenly the image on my second monitor seems to get stuck, except for the mouse pointer.
For example when I move a window from the laptop monitor to my second screen, the window does not appear at all on the second screen. However, the mouse pointer does while I am dragging the window over the second screen. To get out of this situation, I open GNOME'S Displays configuration, switch the second monitor to a duplicate of the first, and then in the confirmation dialog that comes after the change, choose to revert the change. Then everything works normally again. dmesg nor Xorg.0.log contain any error. I am using Linux 4.5.0, xserver 1.18.3 and the Intel X driver Debian package 2:2.99.917+git20160325-1 and GNOME 3.18 I have this GPU: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) Is there any further information I can provide to help fix this problem? x log after such a problem occurred and I unfroze the image by changing the configuration of the second monitor: X.Org X Server 1.18.3 Release Date: 2016-04-04 [ 22.316] X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [ 22.316] Build Operating System: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 x86_64 Debian [ 22.316] Current Operating System: Linux elitebook 4.5.0+ #1 SMP Wed Mar 30 22:25:23 CEST 2016 x86_64 [ 22.316] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.5.0+ root=/dev/ mapper/linux-root ro quiet transparant_hugepage=always [ 22.316] Build Date: 05 April 2016 07:00:43AM [ 22.316] xorg-server 2:1.18.3-1 (http://www.debian.org/support) [ 22.316] Current version of pixman: 0.33.6 [ 22.316] Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version.
