Does the same problem occur with both video out ports?
Has anyone looked under the covers? This is old enough that it may be or
becoming a victim of capacitor deterioration, either on motherboard, or in
power supply, or both.

Also, Intel video RAM is shared with main motherboard RAM. It might be RAM
re-seating or replacement would be the solution.
