These things will help you to get better answers (I think). - On Tue, 2013-07-23 at 18:21 -0400, Rodrigo Rivero wrote: > Dears: > I have a litle warning/error on my laptop with debian jessie AMD64: > the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf doesn't exists and when I try to configure > (# Xorg -configure) Xorg I get the following error: > Number of created screens does not match number of detected devices. > Configuration failed. > I haven't got problems with startx, Xorg starts without problems (kdm > and gdm3), and I can use my lapotp well but > the thing is that sometimes the Xorg hangs first and gnome and I have > no log just it just hang, then I install kde and in the begining > of the .xsession-errors I have GPU class: Unknown and with kde now > hangs for elapsed time > I also have installed xserver-xorg-video-intel* > so my questions are > > 1-is the Xorg ok? > 2-is the intel driver ok? > 3.-should I change the distro for this laptop? > > I will appreciate your help a lot. > > pc = Lenovo thinkpad edge 430 (e430) > distro = Gnu/Linux Debian-testing (jessie) > kernel = 3.9-1-amd64 > grahpics = VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen > Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) > Subsystem: Lenovo Device 5000 > Kernel driver in use: i915 > (integrated intel 4000 hd) > > desktop = kde plasma > > Xorg -version > X.Org X Server 1.12.4 > Release Date: 2012-08-27 > X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 > Build Operating System: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 x86_64 Debian > Current Operating System: Linux rodrigo-note 3.9-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian > 3.9.8-1 x86_64 > Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.9-1-amd64 > root=UUID=97d11971-32fe-4ce2-9ba8-5ecf2b715cde ro acpi_osi=Linux > acpi_backlight=vendor quiet > Build Date: 17 April 2013 10:22:47AM > xorg-server 2:1.12.4-6 (Julien Cristau <jcris...@debian.org>) > Current version of pixman: 0.26.0 > Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org > to make sure that you have the latest version. > _______________________________________________ xorg@lists.x.org: X.Org support Archives: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg Info: http://lists.x.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg Your subscription address: arch...@mail-archive.com
