Another quick noobish question:

I am interested in this VisibilityNotify event which I came across in
the Xlib manual. Are VisiblityNotify events a reliable way for
applications to know whether or not they are currently visible on the
screen? I was wondering if VisibilityNotify was a workable mechanism to
optimize applications to save cycles by having them not calculate all
their screen art when they are fully obscured.

Also, on the note, are VisibilityNotify events potentially affected by
the window manager? (e.g., the WM blocking propagation to the window)
