Yes. This is the unique serial number of the element which is the parent of the PI. Our document comparison algorithm is based on processing these unique serial numbers.




A side effect of this, is that Preview opens not the file itself but a copy of the file, inside a Temporary directory.

That's right. A copy of the file having no revision PIs.




It is a quite odd side effect of a Revision feature - would it not be possible to avoid it?

Sorry but we don't see how we could avoid this side effect.
