I have a large file that has been revised a few times over the last few

there a fix for this?
Difficult to help you with so few information.
Please ask you coworker to start XMLmind XML Editor using
<XXE_install_dir>\bin\xxe-c.bat rather than the usual way (which is
running <XXE_install_dir>\bin\xxe.exe) and then, send us *all* the
messages printed in the command prompt (AKA DOS window) associated to
xxe-c.bat.
It's probably an out of memory error. A possible solution for this
problem is found in this FAQ:

Q: XXE freezes when I try to open large XML files. Is there a workaround
for this problem?

Note that if your "large file" contains many high-resolution images,
another workaround is to:
1) Open a smaller document having the same document type as the large one.
2) Select menu item "View|Display Images|as Bounding Boxes" (or "as
Thumbnails"). See
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/viewMenu.html
3) Select menu item "Options|Customize Configuration|Use Current View
Settings as Default". See
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/customizeConfigurationMenu.html
4) Restart XMLmind XML Editor and open the "large file".
