I just installed XXE 9 on my Windows 7 computer running with Java 1.8.0.171.
After setting up the correct proxy (which is running in XXE8 and works
fine) in the XXE9 settings I get an error message like this:
“Reading list of add-ons
"https://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_usercontrib/list.xxe_addon"...
PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to
find valid certification path to requested target”
Our IT department has no idea of what may cause this error.
Do you have any hint for me?
1) We have recently switched our web site to "https". So is your proxy
configured to let Oerlikon Neumag employees access
"https://www.xmlmind.com/"? Please ask your IT department if this has
been done.
2) The error message means something like: Java 1.8.0.171 does not
recognize the authority (Sectigo Limited; formerly known as Comodo SSL)
of the SSL certificate used by "https://www.xmlmind.com/".
This is probably a false error message because 1) Comodo SSL
certificates are recognized everywhere; 2) I have no such problem when
using Java 1.8.0_212 on my Linux box.
Anyway a possible workaround is to select menu item
"Options|Preferences", select the "Install add-ons" section in the
dialog box.
Then, for each URL found in the "Download add-ons from these servers"
list, please select this URL, click button "Edit" and replace "https" by
"http".
See attached screenshot.

PS: If nothing works, please refer to this FAQ:

I cannot download and install any add-on using Options|Install Add-ons.
Is there another way to download and install add-ons?
