Thanks again for the explanation about the file-chooser! you can't believe how 
much more comfortable it is to be able to set ditamap as filetype

Talking of comfort, though ... the footer in .pdf output can contain a 
{{chapter title}} variable, which is populated by reference to topic content. 
That's comfortable.

A .bookmap can contain <metadata><prodinfo><vrm> ... but I haven't found a way 
of accessing this information in the footer. So as things stand, I have to set 
the footer by hand every time I want to output a book. This is error-prone - 
and, as such, not comfortable. I would be so pleased either to learn how to 
access this information as easily as I access the {{chapter title}} or 
(suboptimal, but let's stay result-driven) to find some other .map attribute I 
can populate and (mis)use to set/re-use vrm information at book level.
