asking the same question: why does File > Open not always include DITAMAP in the options
from the filetype pulldown? Opening a random .dita file from the same directory seems to
solve the problem, but then I have to close the .dita file and re-open it; I prefer to have
the .map file at the left side, and there's no way (I've discovered) to reorder the tabs.

Not a major issue, of course :-}

--> The JAVA file chooser dialog has extension file filters corresponding to the last ten files you have opened. See attached screenshot.

[ This is not the case if you use the NATIVE file chooser: "Options|Preferences", "Open" section, "Use the native file chooser in preference to the multi-platform file chooser", http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/openOptions.html ]

--> It's certainly possible to reorder a document tab: 1) select the tab by clicking it; 2) drag it to the left or to the right edge of an other document tab (a thick green line is displayed by XXE as a feedback when you are over a drop position). See "Drag & drop of document tabs and tool tabs" in http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/openedDocumentTabs.html
