In my understanding, this implies that the XML document edited using XMLmind XML Editor would have "tags" for fully specifying this approval process. For example, a list of persons with their names and emails and for each person, may be a check list and/or state indicators.

It's also important to understand that XMLmind XML Editor is nice to use when editing standard document types like DITA, DocBook and XHTML only because we have spent a considerable time *configuring* XMLmind XML Editor for these standard document types.

If you use a custom DTD or Schema to model your XML data, then you'll have to create a custom configuration for your custom document type.

This can be implemented by third party developers not related to XMLmind. See for example, these two contributions:

- "A configuration for creating XLingPaper documents";
- "DTBook Support".

http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_usercontrib/index.shtml

The authors of the above custom configurations have used this manual to learn how to do that:

provide comments and even propose changes. Is
this possible with your software ?

Unlike most of our competitors, XMLmind XML Editor does not have "real-time" change tracking à la Microsoft Word.

- XMLmind XML Editor has "remarks". See "Remark menu" in http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/remarkMenu.html

- XMLmind XML Editor can store within the document all changes made to a document, can save who did these changes and when. (Use comments to explain the reason for a change.) See "Revisions menu" in http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/revisionsMenu.html

After all reviewers have made changes to the document, the author of the document may examine all suggested changes and for each change, accept it or reject it. See "the Compare tool" in http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/comparePane_primer.html

At first sight, this looks very much like change tracking à la Microsoft Word, but it's not. In fact, XMLmind XML Editor can just compare two revisions of the same document. Note that by design, this comparison is flawless; you cannot miss a change, whatever it is.

Please watch this tutorial to see these two features at work:

"Reviewing changes using the Compare tool"

Text: http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_tutorial/review_changes/index.html

Video: http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_tutorial/review_changes/video/review_changes.html

*Strongly* *recommended*, please evaluate these two features yourself by download our Personal Edition:

(An evaluation version of "XMLmind XSL-FO Converter" add-on is included in Personal Edition.)
