We have a custom configuration. On at least one user's Linux computer,
when XXE starts up, the Message Log dialog shows that it is
"Loading configuration" and then gives the location.
It then immediately has "Ignoring configuration" with the same location.

What might cause this? Is there a way we could find out if there are
any error messages? We are invoking XXE via the xxe script.

I forgot to say this user is running XXE 7.6

This error message is issued for 2 reasons:

1) The ".xxe" file being loaded has no name attribute. See "Anatomy of a configuration file", http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/configure/anatomy_of_a_config.html .

2) You are trying to load a custom configuration (e.g. "A configuration for creating XLingPaper documents") into XMLmind DocBook Editor or XMLmind DITA Editor or XMLmind XHTML Editor.

These special editions of XMLmind XML Editor are restricted in terms of supported configurations. For example, XMLmind DITA Editor will only load the following configurations:

- DITA configuration,
- Keep using DITA 1.2,
- MathML support,
- Easy Profiling.

Only XXE, that is, full-fledged XMLmind XML Editor, supports custom configurations.
