We are having some trouble with using Japanese character input for XXE. We are using Edit Option "Use integrated input method support" feature. "Use integrated input method support" is a very good feature. It is very convenient and also normal for Japanese user to have the composition window displayed inside document view under caret.
Sure. That's precisely why we have implemented this feature.
BUT, Japanese composition area typing acts differently (with error) when "Use integrated input method support" is checked. (1) (Correct behavior) "Use integrated input method support" not checked (Composition area outside XML editor): The following is how we convert Japanese characters (from http://akitajet.com/wiki/Typing_and_displaying_Japanese) If you want kanji for the word, type the word
"Type the word" OK, but using which characters? Romaji?
and press the “Space” key. If the kanji that appears first is the right one, press the “Enter” key. If the first one is not the right one, press the “Space” key again. Your computer will come up with a list of kanji with the reading you typed in. Choose the right one by pressing the “Space” key until the right one is highlighted, Then to confirm that selection, we either a) start typing additional characters or b) press "Enter" key. (2) (Error behavior) "Use integrated input method support" checked (Composition area displayed below the caret): When we confirm the selection by the method of a) start typing additional characters, then first character we type will NOT be placed into the composition window but will be placed directly to XXE caret placing. From second character onwards, the character we type will start going to composition window once more. Is it possible for you to fix this problem?
We'll certainly try to do that for next release (v7.4 planned for next month).
However, unlike other XXE features, this one may depend on the platform used to run XXE. So fixing this issue may be not so easy.
I hope you can understand the problem I am trying to explain. If not, then I will send screen shots.
Yes, please do so. I'll try to reproduce what you do by following your screenshots.
Note that I'm a bit surprised. I was confident that being Japanese, you thoroughly tested this feature (as well as the "Wrap words wider than available space" feature; see http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/viewOptions.html) during your evaluation of XXE.
So may be it worked OK during your evaluation on some platforms and now, not OK on other platforms.
I really, *really*, need to know which Java version you are using and on which operating system (Windows 7, Windows 10, Japanese? Windows 7, macOS Sierra, etc.)
