Dear XXE support,
short version: it would be great if XmlMind could update and support in
future Bill Fenner's legacy xml2rfc XXE Add-On for IETF Draft editing.
For skilled XXE Add-on developers the maintenance effort should be
rather low (if focused on essentials) and the visibility in the
IETF/OpenSource community is really high. Perhaps the direct business
case is questionable (most IETF people contribute in their free time)
but I'm sure that XmlMind could benefit substantially from this
additional user base and publicity in the long run.
Long story: a long while ago, back in 2009-2010 iirc, Bill Fenner wrote
an XXE Add-on to support the editing of IETF drafts and RFCs. Main aim
was to support a comfortable generation of xml files that comply to
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2629 or a later draft
https://tools.ietf.org/tools/xml2rfc/authoring/draft-mrose-writing-rfcs.html
The xml2rfc sources are still available as archives at
https://code.google.com/archive/p/xml2rfc-xxe/downloads . But the add-on
does NOT work with current versions of XXE: the last version of XXE
known to work with the XML2RFC is XXE 5.1.1 (btw, thank you for still
making this available for download).
Please note that XMLmind XML Editor v7.2 (latest and greatest version)
*Personal* *Edition* is free-to-use just like the very old version you
currently use.

The overview of available IETF editing tools at https://tools.ietf.org/
shows that they're currently missing comfortable XML editors available
for IETF xml document generation. For exactly this reason, many people I
know - including me - still use XXE 5.1.1 (manual installation of the
xml2rfc add-on still works) for editing IETF drafts. But the XXE editor
dropped down to the archived tools page
https://tools.ietf.org/inventory/author-tools.shtml because of the
missing support and will likely disappear.
So - is there any chance and interest at XmlMind to update the xml2rfc
XXE add-on? Migration to GitHub should be no major issue but it seems
like many APIs have changed
Please check:

Version xml2rfc-0.8.3 --
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wkumari/xml2rfc-xxe/master/downloads/xml2rfc-0.8.3.xxe_addon
-- seems to be compatible with v7.2, the latest version of XMLmind XML
Editor.
We, XMLmind, have not developed this add-on. We have never used it and
don't even know if it really works.
However, if you have troubles making it run in XMLmind XML Editor v7.2,
send us another email and we'll see if we can help.
(and are not that well documented)...
Are you sure? What is "not that well documented"?
