I just installed XXE 7.0 and gave the new master document function a try. Very few persons seemed to use our navigation pane, so for the sake of simplicity, we have suppressed it.
The "Use as Master Document" feature is clearly not a replacement for the navigation pane. This non-visual feature just implements the easy cross-references+validation facilities which were provided by the navigation pane.
