This is something I'm coming across when I commit document changes to a
repository.
When I have a document tree opened in xmlmind and I perform a commit,
I've configured svn to write revision numbers into defined places in my
document files.
Unfortunately these external changes will not be reflected in the
document view which is currently open in xmlmind. If I now continue work
and make changes to the open document these changes made by subversion
get lost.
Even a refresh window does not re-read the file.
I don't say this is a bug but for me it's kind of a deficiency and I
wonder if reflecting external changes could be added to the feature wish
list.
This is not a deficiency. The behavior you describe is "normal". The
behavior you expect is certainly possible to implement, but would be
costly in terms of performances and overkill for the vast majority of
use cases.
If you use an external program to modify a file currently opened in
XMLmind XML Editor then the only way to see the changes is to reopen the
file (using the File menu) in XMLmind XML Editor. A refresh (Ctrl-L) is
not sufficient.
Moreover, in principle, you cannot loose the changes made to the opened
document using an external program, because if you attempt to *save* the
file already loaded in XMLmind XML Editor, you'll get an "seems to have
been modified using an external application" alert box. See attached
screenshot.
(This alert box should be displayed by any recent version of XMLmind
XML Editor. I don't know which version you use and on which operating
system.)
