This bug is now fixed in XMLmind DITA Converter 2.5.8_01 (not yet released) which will be integrated into next version XMLmind XML Editor (v6.7).
The only workaround consists in removing frontmatter and backmatter from your bookmap subdocument. (In the case of the sample you sent us, please try to remove frontmatter from embedded.ditamap.)
