remember correctly), but:

told by XXE support that XXE is not for me, so I haven't
bothered testing further.
I had tried XXE years ago when I didn't have the money to pay a
licensing fee. I seem to remember that its interface was a little
clunky and arcane, but as I've ran out of options I decided to try it
again, with the result indicated above.
Did that answer your question?
Kind of. And I understand you when you say that it is difficult to find
good tools ... I find XMLmind the best, at least for my purposes ...
Regarding the CRLF thing ... I agree that sometimes small details are
important. But you presented Git as the 'use case', so to speak. I
understand that under your configuration, Git will ”convert them back
to CRLF on a Windows machine when they are checked out”. But the fact
that XMLmind will, upon opening the checked out file, reconvert the CRLF
to LF, does not sound extremely problematic ...
