Thanks for the quick reply - in fact, I was interrupted while preparing this e-mail. I can now agree that the fault is in the .dita source, and I can see that this came from trying to use an experimental .dita file from another environment. The XML Mind "structure" warning highlighted the problem area, and I have now been able to correct the error. Results: happy author, happy document owner :-}
