Thanks for the quick reply - in fact, I was interrupted while preparing this
e-mail. I can now agree that the fault is in the .dita source, and I can see
that this came from trying to use an experimental .dita file from another
environment. The XML Mind "structure" warning highlighted the problem area, and
I have now been able to correct the error. Results: happy author, happy
document owner :-}

"fo:block" is not a valid child of "fo:list-block" is a real error. FOP is
100% right in reporting it.

This error is caused by the fact that your DITA input file is
*structurally* *invalid* (red icon at the bottom/left of XMLmind XML Editor red
window).

For example,

---
<p>Printing time increases dramatically with the density, in particular in
areas where the black-to-white ratio is close to 100%.</p>
---

is found directly inside the <ul> starting with:

---
<li>the physical length of the ticket</li>
---

Note that our software XMLmind DITA Converter (embedded in XMLmind XML
Editor) has not been designed to gracefully handle structurally invalid DITA
documents. Hence this FOP error.
