Thank you very much Hussein.

For some reason the OS managed composition window that is used when the option 
is not checked does not work.

I do get a composition window, I can select the string want but the selected 
string is not inserted in place within the document.

On the other hand, once the option is checked there are no issues whatsoever, 
as far as I could test.
