Therefore, we are seeking a person who would like to maintain the German localization of XMLmind XML Editor (same source for both Standard and Professional Edition). This person must be a XMLmind XML Editor user [*]. The native language of this person must be German and he/she must be fluent in English (the reference language of XMLmind XML Editor). This person will be given a ``lifetime'' license of XMLmind XML Editor Professional Edition. And if this person wants more free licenses for his/her organization or company, we can arrange that too. The person interested in this must send me an email so I can give him/her access to XMLmind XML Editor Professional Edition *V2.9 beta 2*. --- [*] We absolutely need the volunteer to be an XMLmind XML Editor user. That's why we do not intend to hire a professional translator. I mean, this is not a problem of money. ----------------------------- Localizing XMLmind XML Editor ----------------------------- Localizing XMLmind XML Editor is easy and can be done by anyone, at any time, without requesting anything from XMLmind. Suffice to use the "localize" utility (download from http://www.xmlmind.com/localize.html). The "localize" utility works as follows: [1] Open a command window and go to the directory where you have installed XMLmind XML Editor. This directory contains xxe.jar and xxe_app.jar. [2] Run command: --- C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor> localize -x xxe_en_de.txt -l2 de xxe.jar --- and also run command: --- C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor> localize -x xxe_app_en_de.txt -l2 de xxe_app.jar --- This creates text files xxe_en_de.txt and xxe_app_en_de.txt. These files contains messages which look like: --- C.convert=Convert C.convert=Umwandeln C.wrap=Convert [wrap] C.wrap= --- [3] Use a text editor and ``fill in the blanks''. Example: message "C.convert" is already translated but you need to translate "C.wrap" [4] Patch xxe.jar and xxe_app.jar in order to be able to test your localization. This is done by running the following commands: --- C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor> localize -p xxe_en_de.txt -l de xxe.jar C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor> localize -p xxe_app_en_de.txt -l de xxe_app.jar --- You can safely ignore the warnings. They are normal because nothing forces you to translate everything in XMLmind XML Editor. It is even recommended *not* to translate everything in XMLmind XML Editor. If something is wrong, edit xxe_en_de.txt and xxe_app_en_de.txt and patch the jars one more time. [6] Send me xxe_en_de.txt and xxe_app_en_de.txt. Please do not forget to specify the character encoding used by your OS/text editor (e.g. Windows-1252 on Windows, ISO-8859-1 on Linux, etc).
