Hi, Thanks for your reply. That sounds good to me. I would be happy with just getting TWM on one "screen" and just having the X server running on the other screen. I can get my 2 screens up when I do:
# xinit -- :0 I get an X server running on the first screen with a default xterm window. I get an X server running on the second screen with NO windows. From the first screen I can run "setenv DISPLAY :0.0" and "setenv DISPLAY :0.1" and popup xterms on the respective displays. This is good. The problem is that when I type "twm -display :0.0", twm starts up on BOTH displays! Can someone help me just start it on ONE display? Then I can pop up xterms on the second display and they will not have an window manager which is what I want. You cannot run two displays without having two X-servers, and two X-servers cannot display simulateously because each needs to own the VT (they will end up on separate VTs). You want one server with two screens. You should probably ask the Gnome or KDE folks. TWM observes the -display commandline option and does what you want. The "fancy" window managers often try to be too clever and start up on all available screens. Mark.
