I have actually a Matrox G400Max running in 2048x1536 under xfree 4.3.0
The problem is, i can't load DRI in this resolution, but looking in the Manual for maximum 3D accel resolutions, i can see :
with 32Mo of graphic memory (my case) :
16M colors (32 bits) 2048x1536 double buffer memory without Zbuffer 16M colors (32 bits) 2048x1536 double buffer memory with 16 bits of Zbuffer 16M colors (32 bits) 1800x1440 double buffer memory with 32 bits of Zbuffer
ok ...
Looking in logs of xfree i can see :
(EE) MGA(0): Static buffer allocation failed, not initializing the DRI
(EE) MGA(0): Need at least 36864 kB video memory at this resolution, bit depth
It's probably due to xfree attempt to launch with 32 bits of Zbuffer at the max resolution ... ???
Because i want to leave in 2048x1536 resolution, how i can select the 16M colors (32 bits) 2048x1536 double buffer memory with 16 bits of Zbuffer configuration to be able to use DRI ?
Any idea ?
