Hi all,
to enable people to become testers/janitors for XFree I want to put a
small howto online describing the easiest way to install XFree (compil
CVS and install) WITHOUT messing the current install of X (coming with
the distro). This is crucial as I think a lot of people are held back
from testing XFree because of the install problem.
Note that the goal is really to be able to fully install XFree in
parallel of the current install without interference (or just as few as
possible, and in that case the howto should mention it to warn people).
For now my only source of doc is the install-x.org file in cvs. So I
know about the ".def" files and ProjectRoot, but I tried with that and
it has messed up my current install (changed my fonts, the xinit
files...).
Please help me by giving me pointers or write a few lines about your
personnal way of doing it. I'll try to do a mix of all that and put
something online.
