Hello,
On my Compaq Presario 5006US which includes an "Intel Corp. 82810E
DC-133 CGC [Chipset Graphics Controller] (rev 3)" (according to
/proc/pci, I no longer remember what the market-speak name for the
device is.). I have added a ATI Radeon QD into PCI slot 4 and disabled
the primary video card in the BIOS.
Using the 'ati' driver with this device, I have to use the 'noaccel'
option directive or it will lock-up immediately. Otherwise, the board
works fine. I have been told that the identical card works with
acceleration on other systems, but I don't have a second machine to use
as a sandbox for testing this myself. (But I may try and set something
up, if that's the only direction to go.)
Under Windows on the same system, there is no problem using hardware
acceleration with the card in the configuration that the system is in.
How would you suggest I go about debugging this further? Could it be
that the disabled on-board video is a red-herring? Is there a known
issue with Linux support for some of these cards?
I have attached my X configuration and /proc/pci if it will help.
Thanks so much for your help,
Joe Pranevich

# To customise the XKB settings to suit your keyboard, modify the

# Option "XkbModel" "pc102"
# If you have a US Microsoft Natural keyboard, you can use:
# Option "XkbModel" "microsoft"

# Then to change the language, change the Layout setting.
# For example, a german layout can be obtained with:
# Option "XkbLayout" "de"

# Option "XkbLayout" "de"
# Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"

# If you'd like to switch the positions of your capslock and
