After considerable hair pulling and gnashing of teeth I finally
installed X 4.3 and (after reading the manual) I have my Radeon 9000 Pro
running Dual Head nicely with Xinerama and the plain 4.3 version.

I was lucky I suppose because it compiled and installed on RH 8 with no
real problems. I'm no linux expert by any means so if it hadn't worked
I'd be stuck but it was amazingly painless.

I'm using the Radeon driver. I convert the DVI jack to a VGA with a
supplied dongle.

My only problem is that my monitors won't handle the same sync
frequencies. Not really a problem, just inconvenient.

On my system the plane driver (radeon + Xinerama) seems to handle
everything ok. I just have the two 19" CRT monitors so maybe there is a
DVI problem I don't know about but the plane system works just fine for
my Samsung 955df/900p system.
