I'll start in of the kernal next but in the meantime I'd appreciate any ideas. (You'll note I've used two different PCI addresses - I'm puzzled but this doesn't seem to have any effect on the system's behavior.
ATI has a utility for graphically controling the screens but it fails to work. Specifically when using 4.2 with the fglrx driver the utility will find the card, but it will not change it's configuration. It gives no message. With the ati driver the utility can't identify the card and cant make any changes. No error messages are produced. I'm not sure just where the ATI Utility is loaded. Hence my decision to recompile the kernal. I'm grasping at straws at this point.
Other than the inability to work Dual headed, and the ATI Pannel silent failure, the X system seems to work fine.
I'd appreciate any help or ideas even a pointer to the location in the documentation where Dual Headed operation is discussed would be welcome.
Thanks Bill Lea
