I recently sent in a problem as listed below with my COmpaq Evo N1000v with 15" tft panel.  Like yours mine works fine

when on external monitor, and even the flat panel works when connected to an external monitor, but when the monitor is removed and rebooted, all goes wrong.  I get missing lines on the display, which would suggest Sync problems.

If you get any answers I would be happy to hear about them

Hi,

I am having problems with the default install of RH8.0 and XFree86 on a Compaq evo n100v. When running X, I get lines running through vertically, even though the right card is being used. It looks like a sync problem, but I am not sure

I have tried a couple of other XF86config files and still dont have any luck.

Has anybody had any similar experiences.

I have attached the XF86Config file

Regards

Luke

Subject: [XFree86] ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 / Compaq N610c

I installed Redhat 8.0 on my Compaq N610c notebook.  During the install I had an external Compaq S910 monitor installed.  I was happy to see that X configured properly and display output on both the external monitor and the notebook screen were excellant.

At the end of the day, I removed the external monitor from my notebook and left my notebook running and drove home.  When I got home, I opened my notebook and the screen was black.  I could see harddrive activity so the machine was not in sleep mode.  I rebooted and the screen output was very fuzzy.

I then attempted to find horz/vert sync rates so I could manually configure the xf86config file.  I searched for hours on Google, Compaq.com and even opened up a Compaq tech support case.  To my amazement, I cannot find the info anywhere and even Compaq couldn't provide it to me.

I tried several different versions of the Generic Laptop" options available and none worked.

Any suggestions/guidance would be appreciated! : )
