I've now tried 4.2.99.4, to see if any of the changes to the trident driver
code made since 4.2.99.3 would fix the bugs mentioned at
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00056.html

Those bugs still remain, but there is now a new problem - when playing a
video with Xv, the screen to the right of the image is corrupted.

The form of the corruption is quite hard to explain, but I will do my best.

The first (left-most) 100 or so pixels of each affected line are the same
colour as the vertical stripe down the RHS of the image (defined by
XV_COLORKEY, I think). The rest of the line contains what was originally on
that line, but shifted 100 pixels to the right.

Not all of the lines to the right of the image are affected - I think it's
no more than a quarter of them at any instant.

These lines flicker very quickly between the described corruption and normal
(ie. correct) display, too fast to time. For some image sizes, they appear
to be corrupted more than correct, for others, vice versa. The vertical
positioning of these lines also varies for different image widths. These
variables appear to stay constant for constant image width with varying
image height.

Does all that make sense?
