Hello. I'm trying to figure out how I can select which "ServerLayout" to use when I'm using a graphical login screen (I'm using KDE so I suppose that means that it's KDM that's supplying the login screen). I have a laptop computer set up to use two heads in certain situations (the internal LCD and an external CRT). The external CRT varies from place to place but of course the internal LCD is always the same.
So what I'd like to do is always get the login screen to appear on my LCD (this is what currently happens since my default server layout is the standalone laptop with no external screen). When I log in I'd like to be able to select what server layout should be used for that session. Does anybody know if this is possible in some way? What I'm currently doing is selecting the "Console Login" option from the KDM login screen and there I log in as root, run "startx -- -layout name-of-layout" and then I get a session using the layout that I want but I'm logged in as root (and I don't want that). I haven't been able to find out how I can log another user in (I can't run startx as anybody else other than root and I don't know of any way to switch users once root has KDE up and running). Another problem that I am currently facing is that I use Xinerama. Does anybody know how to adjust KWIN to play nice with that? I mean so that I can have different resolutions on the two monitors and such... Maybe KWIN doesn't yet support Xinerama??? Is there any other solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Stefan Freyr. _______________________________________________ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
