Hi all,
I'm having trouble with the mouse cursors on my office machine. It's got
a GeForce 4, is running RedHat 8 and the admin installed a beta X server
RPM, version XFree86-4.2.99.2-0.20021209.0.
I'm having several problems with this setup:
- The mouse pointer is alpha blended, which I don't want
- The mouse cursor has a dropshadow, which I don't want
- The mouse cursor is twice as large as necessary, making selecting text
etc quite hard.
- The mouse cursor icon itself is slightly broken (empty vertical line
in the image).
I'm looking for possibilities to disable all of this eyecandy and get my
plain ordinary mouse pointers back. The admin tried setting CursorShadow
to "no" in XF86Config, with no effect.
I've played with Xcursor options a bit (eg Xcursor.size etC) in my X
resources, but everything goes unnoticed.
Can anyone help me get my old cursors back? Note that I'm not root on
the machine, so I can't just install other servers etc.

If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is
newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
reporting problems. (See http://www.XFree86.Org/)

Build Host: daffy.perf.redhat.com
I'll gladly provide more details if necessary. Help woul be much
appreciated -- these cursors are a pain, sorry.
Cheers,
Christian.
