You can try to add it back by clicking with the right mouse button on
the bar and and choosing "add new items".

only issue now (it's not really an issue; it's just not as it was)
is that instead of being on the left it's now on the right.
I need to work out how to move it.
Click on it with right mouse button and select "move".
I think this is all documented in the XFCE web site.
