Apropos of this discussion, those members of this list who also subscribe to
the XeTeX mailing list will know that a few days ago Apostolos Syropoulos asked
for volunteers to test Frederika2016 :

> I am working on the digitization of Frederica Zapf (the Greek part of >
> Virtuosa Zapf) and I would like to know if there is anybody in this > list
> who would like to play a bit with font and give me some > feedback.

I volunteered, Apostolos sent me a copy of the font, I installed it,
re-compiled the Catalogue of Greek MSS in LPL after changing the Greek font
from Palatino Linotype to Frederika2016, reported that a couple of glyphs
appeared to be missing (GREEK NUMERAL SIGN (Dexia keraia) and GREEK LOWER
NUMERAL SIGN (Aristeri keraia)) and that was that.

Today Apostolos sent me a new copy of the font, I installed it, re-compiled,
and found the glyphs still missing; Apostolos said they were now present, sent
test files to shew the missing glyphs were found on his system, then suggested
that perhaps I was still using the old version of the font and sent a further
version. The new version also had no effect when installed.

Then he sent a test file that referenced the font as "[Frederika2016.otf]"
rather than as "Frederika2016" as I had been using, and with that change I too
could now typeset GREEK NUMERAL SIGN (Dexia keraia) and GREEK LOWER NUMERAL
SIGN (Aristeri keraia) using "[Frederika2016.otf]" but not if using
"Frederika2016".

I then :
> deleted every instance of Frederika2016.otf I could find; deleted the font
> Frederika2016Italic from the Windows font directory; ran fc-cache; re-booted;
> deleted a single instance of Frederika2016 from the registry; and finally, in

Can any knowledgeable person please tell me how I can ask XeTeX/fontconfig
where it is finding Frederika2016 ?
