Thank you so much, Wilfred. It is intriguing, because before i wrote to the list, I did a find in my /usr/share/texlive directory for the file etoolbox.sty and I couldn't find it. I also did a search in the ctan.orgsite and didn't find the link! But, now I have downloaded the .sty file and the compilation proceeds properly. Thanks and regards, Sasi -- V.
