Right. Helvetica belongs with a few others to a set of fonts that every PDF 
programme has to support so it's not needed to embed these fonts. (They're the 
"standard 14" PostScript fonts: Times/Times New Roman, Helvetica, Courier, 
Symbol, Zapf Dingbats.) By exchanging NimbusRomNo9L, the urw++ clone, with 
Times you have one more font family not needed to be embedded.

The utilities updmap and updmap-sys offer the choice to embed everything and to 
use original Adobe fonts or their clones from urw++ (plus a few more things). I 
am actually not sure whether the setup affects *xdvipdfmx*, the output driver 
of XeTeX (which only produces an extended DVI file format that has to be 
converted to PDF in one step)...
