That (deleting the font) is naturally what I did. But not everyone
has the rights to remove files from the main texmf tree. Also the
font will naturally reappear with the next update. And as most
people get the font with their package manager, they often don't
know that they have a dublette somewhere and that it can lead to
problems. 

I have now made a request to the miktex maintainer to remove/move
the file. But isn't there another solution. E.g. couldn't you give
the ttf-version another font name?
