Strange.
I suspect that if you're loading xltxtra with the [no-script] option, then you no longer need xltxtra. I recommend, now, just

   \usepackage{fontspec}

instead -- it will automatically load xunicode if you have the fontspec v2.1 or later floating around (2.1b is new to CTAN). You can load the realscripts package if you want the features provided by xltxtra for OpenType superscript symbols in footnotes.

In terms of debugging the problem, I haven't worked out what causes the error but I know how to fix it. There seems to be a strange interaction with \DeclareRobustCommand and the xparse package which we'll need to sort out.
