Hi,
My Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 detects Xelatex.exe to be a PDM RootShell 
virus.

I am sure this is a false positive but I don't know what code in the .exe is 
firing off Kaspersky. Perhaps the code needs checking for this effect on 
anti-virus software.

Incidentally Kaspersky also fires with the same root virus message for the 
MikTeX configuration utility and TexMaker.exe.
