Hi all,

I've uploaded a preliminary version of the microtype package with xetex support to xetex.tk. It probably still contains many bugs, and especially the documentation is not up to date in all cases yet. You can find:

* microtype.zip - source + documentation
* microtype.tds.zip - ready-to-install bundle (includes source + documentation)
* mt-CharisSIL.cfg - skeleton of a configuration file for Charis SIL
* test-xetex.tex/.pdf - a test file showing protrusion of many glyphs in Charis SIL, ordered by Unicode number
* charis-glyphs.tex/.pdf - shows all glyphs in Charis SIL

The configuration file for Charis is really no more than a skeleton; a lot of glyphs are still missing protrusion factors, in particular Cyrillic and Greek. I have basically only copied the values from the existing Charter configuration file (mt-bch.cfg) and added the inheritance list, which I have assembled from the sample from scripts.sil.org. So there's still a lot of room for improvement!

Hence I would like to invite everybody to improve the settings for Charis, and/or to provide settings for other Opentype/Truetype fonts. Also, I haven't decided yet on how to specify the glyphs: as Unicode chars, as a LaTeX text command (eg., \textendash) or as glyph names. Opinions on this and everything else are welcome!

Happy testing!

Regards,
