Such things shouldn't be compile time optional. I don't think there's any reason why it can't be done for every arm32 platform. Normally I'd ask for a command line option which can overrides (i.e. disable) this behaviour -- just in case. But I suspect that the relevant code runs too early? (I'll read the rest of this thread as I catch up with my email backlog).
