Hi Alwin,

When making a donation, consider that if it is very small, and since it is
kind of a manual process to list names on the website, someone is donating
their time to post your name/link to edit the webpage. Hopefully, the
donation is worth more than what the distraction from that person's time
would be worth, if applied to direct creative work.

Another point is, that donations to OpenBSD should not be made in exchange
for a cross-posting service. In that case they would be considered as
being on a fee for service basis, and hence taxable, which would damage
the whole intent and process for everyone, and quickly create immense
paperwork ramifications and costs. Donations can only be accepted as
purely voluntary with no strings attached. If donors names are displayed,
on the website, it is strictly to honor the voluntary intent, and would
not be done at all if requested as a "service".

Note also that there are different ways to donate to the future of
OpenBSD. You can donate directly to Theo de Raadt or to the OpenBSD
foundation. Donating to Theo (the project leader), or to one of the
developers, to apply as he/she sees most opportune, gives a bit more
flexibility to what is at heart a quite loose and adhoc group of
developers who contribute immense amounts of there personal time.

Donating to the OpenBSD foundation is a somewhat more formal path, and the
foundation has to apply government regulated strict "non-profit"
disbursement of funds towards socially valuable objectives.

Hopefully your company is able to use OpenBSD or it's tools and the
donation is in gratitude for the work of the developers who donate their
time for the benefit of everyone, and for the pleasure of creating some of
the world's finest examples of system software.
