On the 17th of April this year the PACCdigi contest took place. This contest was the digital version of the PACC SSB/CW contest that is held for years already. In the PACC contest pa-stations must be worked and the province abbreviation count as multiplier on each band. We did our best to make a contest where the rules were the same in the digital as well as in the ssb/cw contest version. We chose for the use of ft-8 as one of the contest modes. We got over 250 competitors this year in our first digital contest. Not a bad result for the first year. The general remarks were also ok. As expected, there were also negative items in the soapbox. One of the items, one we already noticed in the pre-contest phase, was the following: Why not use the Round Up version in the contest? Then it is again possible to use two letters of the province names as multiplier as in the PACC contest instead of the QTH-locator. And also calling CQ makes clear which contest is running CQ PA instead of CQ RU. We are aware that that all this is already possible within the wsjtx software. But we have a practical problem if we want to use wsjtx in that way. After every qso we have to change the RU indicator for the better suited PA indicator.(i.e., CQ PA PA0BWL JO21) This change is not kept during the session but is changed back for every qso when one is calling cq, Our question is: please make a change of the contest indicator, in this case “RU”, valid for the complete session. This does not change the Round Up contest matters but will give us a much better PACCdigi contest.
