I guess you never heard of alpha testing software. All major software companies do this. You release the software to a select few to test. If you do not alpha test before you release to the general public there could be way to many bugs.
Most that use WSJT want an end product that is ready to go. They don't want to have to troubleshoot problems because of bugs
I'm sure when the dev team feel the software can be released they will release a RC version for all to use. Just as it was with FT8 and FT4 (which they did the same thing with).
