You know, I really don't think it did that bad considering what it was. It was trying to garner the "desperate about the budget" people into the camp, and though 55-45 or whatever it was isn't "close," heck, when I moved to this state it probably would have lost 90-10. It was sort of ground breaking to even vote on at all. Generally we end up voting two or three times on anything that requires longer for a lot of people to think about that one election cycle. Really true in SF, but statewide, I expect we'll see it again in different wording fairly soon. When Prop 8 passed back a few years ago, I was equally surprised it was even as close as it was, it indicated an immense amount of "change" had happened in my lifetime. I really try to take a longer perspective on all these things than I would have when I was younger. I think that's because that's what tired old farts like me do just naturally.
